So, I just took a cold shower. And I took one yesterday too. And I will take one again tomorrow. These cold showers have nothing to do with sex, or lack thereof, but rather optimizing my mind and body.
There’s a ton of research on the benefits of cold therapy, improving our immune system, cardiovascular circulation, and energy levels… I am not entirely sold on all of that research, to be honest… for me, there is an undeniable reason why I take cold showers — it forces me to practice mindfulness, acceptance, and zen in the face of extreme discomfort. And I feel AWESOME afterwards.
It is hard to calmly embrace being out of your comfort zone, and the more uncomfortable, the harder it is. And, as with everything else, the more you practice, the better you get at it… so the daily practice of cold showers flexes my mindfulness muscles, my autonomic nervous system hacks to stay calm and centered despite the intense discomfort.
The same parts of control that I use on the ARX when I am pushing well beyond what my brain thinks is possible.
